Aim: Assess and report on the opportunities for developing the Superyacht niche market in the Great Barrier Reef region.

Services: Conduct an international Superyacht market analysis; marine planning, legislation and management review, a marine infrastructure and tourism product audit of the Great Barrier Reef region; and a series of stakeholder workshops. Identify potential Superyacht sites of interest, tours and attractions as well as marine infrastructure and services; and provide a set of guidelines for the development of a centralized electronic information portal.

Aim: Evaluate a pilot regional level Grey Nomad Volunteer Program.

Services: Develop a set of guidelines for setting up similar programs in other regions that includes different stages of implementing the program, associated costs and benefits, a description of those aspects of the program considered successful, challenges encountered and solutions. Develop a media release on the program and distribute to state and national media promoting the pilot project and the supporting partners.

Aim: Investigate the potential for “Grey Nomads” to fill labour and skills shortages and contribute to regional development by participating in voluntary and paid work opportunities while travelling.

Services: Conduct a national survey of 25 500 Grey Nomads; conduct interviews and focus groups with potential employers in government, NGO and industry sectors. Analyse results to profile the potential target workforce and potential employers. Identify locations in Queensland where potential employers, skills and labour shortages and Grey Nomad preferences and abilities overlap. Apply for and win a federal grant to run a pilot employment program in the Townsville region. Develop a toolkit for both Grey Nomads and employers based on the Townsville pilot experience.

Aim: Reinforce the position of Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia as the peak representative of this consumer group and build awareness of the value of the niche market to regional economies.

Services: Create and implement a strategic media and communications plan to improve government, industry and community awareness of the value of this niche market and to stimulate the creation of a national coordinated approach to its sustainable development. Develop a national issues paper, media articles and organise a series of meetings and presentations with key local, state and national government representatives.
